Cobalt Kills is a social good campaign that seeks to bring awareness to and enact a change regarding the exploitation of the Congolese people in Africa who are forced to mine cobalt under inhumane conditions. This conflict, though thematically dating back to the time of Joseph Conrad’s 1899 novel, Heart of Darkness, is being condemned by authors and social researchers as “modern-day slavery,” yet the issue has garnered surprisingly little mainstream media coverage. This campaign attempts to reach the largest market consumer of cobalt in the West, electric vehicle owners, through several different advertisements designed to capture attention and provoke thought.
